Government college principals conference-cum-training begins

Two-day Government Colleges Principals conference cum training organized by the department of Higher Education under the theme “envision, inspire, excel” commenced Thursday at the Conference Hall of Directorate of Higher Education, Kohima. 

According to DIPR report, in a welcome address, commissioner & secretary, higher & technical education W. Honje Konyak appreciated the initiative taken by the department and hoped that the conference cum training would regenerate the commitment and responsibility in all.

Stating that principals are not just mere teachers but represents the department and the government, Konyak said their performance reflects the face of the department as well as the government. He then appealed to them to enforce the rules and regulations in the field under their own jurisdiction. 

Konyak also called upon the principals to realize their responsibilities as they play an important role in molding the future of the society, are accountable for the smooth functioning of routine activities and recognizes the teaching and learning priority of their institutions.

On the first day, resource person was Sr. accounts officer department of education and department of health & family welfare, Zubenthung Murry spoke on the topic, “training on accounts and role of DDO”. 

Resource persons professor N. Das, department of English, Nagaland University and R. Andreas under Secretary to the government, Department of Economics & Statistics would speak on the second day on the topics “API Assessment” and “Office procedures” respectively.
