Government High School Thuvopisu celebrates ‘Dies Fabularum Popularium’

Government High School Thuvopisu organised Dies Fabularum Popularium (A Day of Folktales) on April 17, with active participation from students of Classes VI to X and the presence of parents.
The programme was led by Shekukhoyi GT, followed by an invocation by chairman of Prayer Cell TBC Razunu Rhakho. Assistant Headmaster Chegeseng Kath delivered the welcome address.
Students presented a series of engaging play performances, highlighting the importance of preserving traditional folktales that reflect the community’s values and heritage. Through dramatization, participants showcased creativity, teamwork and cultural appreciation, while also enhancing their confidence, communication skills and critical thinking.
Class VI (“Sopfunuo”) and Class VII (“I Have Decided to Follow Jesus”) secured first place, while Class X (“A Mizo Folktale”) finished second. Third place was shared by Class VI entries “Three Friends” and “Tiger, Man and Spirit”.
In individual categories, Thunovelu and Thujozolu were adjudged Best Female Actors, while Kuvese and Lhukhosa won Best Male Actor awards.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by PT Sheta, declaration of results by GT Thejangulie, and a benediction by LT Setso, followed by a community lunch.
Organisers said the event was a success, leaving participants and attendees enriched and inspired by the enduring value of local folklore.
