Governor appeals ENPO to take part in Urban Local Body polls

Nagaland Governor La Ganesan has earnestly appealed to the people of Eastern Nagaland and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) to actively participate in the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections scheduled on June 26.

While acknowledging the concerns raised by the ENPO with utmost respect, the governor in a statement emphasised that it was imperative to address the essence of democratic participation.
He underlined that voting in any election was not merely a right, but a significant opportunity that ensured the representation of the people’s voice in governance and the sustenance of democratic principles.

Ganesan also reassured the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation and the people of Eastern Nagaland that the concerns related to the creation of Frontier Nagaland Territory were being diligently addressed by the Central government, adding that constructive dialogue and continued participation in the democratic process should be encouraged by all stakeholders concerned.

“It is with this optimistic background that I humbly request the ENPO and the people of Eastern Nagaland to exercise their constitutional right and participate in the forthcoming ULB election, thereby strengthening the democratic fabric of our state,” Ganesan stated. He called upon everyone to come together to uphold the cherished democratic values and work relentlessly towards a united and prosperous Nagaland.
