Nagaland Governor La Ganesan extended his best wishes on the people of Nagaland on the occasion of the 61st Nagaland the Statehood Day adding that the occasion marked a significant milestone, a day that commemorated the historical journey and collective dream for a vibrant state.
In a message on the eve of the 61st Nagaland Statehood Day, the governor noted that the shared sense of belonging and mutual support formed an invaluable network that effectively bound each tribe together, creating a strong social fabric refined by centuries of interconnected experiences.
He recalled that a journey of self-determination and growth began on this day 60 years ago, paving the way for the emergence of Nagaland as a state with rich traditions and values.
He urged everyone to express their profound gratitude to the pioneers and leaders of Nagaland, pointing out that their vision, tenacity, and immense contributions had sculpted the contours of this diverse and resilient state.
“We remember and celebrate them today as we rekindle their dreams, affirming once again to carry forward their legacy with honour and pride. I truly hope that we can live up to their ideals of peace, harmony, progress and development,” the message stated.
He described the journey since the statehood as remarkable, filled with achievements that resonated with the spirit of every Naga. He claimed that opportunities had been created, infrastructure developed, and the quality of life improved. He highlighted that the responsibility rested with every citizen to ensure a peaceful and prosperous Nagaland, adding that each citizen had a significant part to play. He said together they could shape a future that they could all be proud to partake.
Ganesan said he remained in awe of the invincible spirit of the people, noting that they had weathered many storms with unyielding determination and yet always remained hopeful for brighter days. He said their perseverance and undying faith served as the cornerstone of their identity.
He acknowledged that the state continued to battle unemployment, the quest for enduring peace, equitable growth, and rapid advancement. He insisted that the progress must touch every corner, every pocket of Nagaland, emphasising that residents of the hills and valleys alikemust feel the winds of change for, a harmonious and prosperous state was shaped only by the collective progress of its people.
On the occasion of Statehood Day, he urged everyone to contribute towards shaping a Nagaland that embodied their dreams and aspirations.
He called for striving towards creating a society where everyone’s potential could find a true expression, accelerating all-round socio-economic development, sustainable peace, and a brighter future for the generations to come. “Let us march forward, our spirits bound by unity and a shared vision of a prosperous Nagaland,” he emphasised.
