Nagaland Governor, PB Acharya, has called upon the citizens of the state to come together and combat one of the greatest environmental challenges – use of plastic. In his message on World Environment Day, Acharya appealed to all government departments and agencies, educational institutions, nature lovers, industrialists, corporate leaders, traders and NGOs to come forward and spread awareness about plastic pollution and its prevention. World Environment Day is organized around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern and the theme for 2018 is “Beat Plastic Pollution.” “Environment might be one of the most important treasures we have and we must all play our role in preserving it,” said Acharya. He also called upon the people of the state to take care of the earth, to rededicate the commitment towards preservation and protection of pristine environment and to create a plastic free Nagaland.
