Nagaland governor, La Ganesan, on Tuesday graced the Odisha foundation day held at Nagaland Police Complex, Chumoukedima.
PRO Raj Bhavan informed that Ganesan speaking on the occasion, highlighted Odisha’s rich cultural and historical legacy, describing it as a land of timeless temples, pristine beaches, and artistic excellence.
He acknowledged the contributions of Odisha to India’s cultural heritage, from the spiritual chants of Jagannath Sadak to the grace of Odissi dance, the architectural marvel of the Konark Sun Temple, and the melodies of Gotipua music.
“The people of Odisha residing in Nagaland have significantly enriched our social and economic fabric with their hard work and integrity. You are not just residents here, you are family, and your stories are part of our shared history,” the Governor said.
He emphasized the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual traditions that both Odisha and Nagaland, drawing parallels between Odisha’s Rath Yatra and Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival as symbols of devotion and community vibrancy.
Reaffirming the vision of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, the Governor praised the Odia community in Nagaland for embodying this spirit by seamlessly integrating into Naga society while preserving their cultural identity. He encouraged the continued exchange of cultural traditions, emphasizing that such interactions strengthen national unity.
The Governor also urged everyone to take pride in such cultural exchanges, fostering an environment where every tradition is respected and celebrated. “This day is not just a happy occasion but a reflection of mutual respect and harmonious coexistence.
By understanding and celebrating our differences, we find unity and strength,” he concluded. Earlier, opening remarks was delivered by Mhomo Tungoe, Joint Secretary to Governor. The celebration featured vibrant performances by the Odia community in Nagaland, showcasing Odisha’s artistic heritage, Oddisi Dance by Smrutimayee Swain, Banasmita Rout, Lizali Behera and Poojali Behera, Chhau Dance by Babita Mohanta and Pradyumna Kumar Mohanta, and Sambalpuri Dance by Smrutimayee Swain, Banasmita Rout, Lizali Behera and Poojali Behera.
