Nagaland Governor, La Ganesan, said Telangana, with its rich history, vibrant culture, and remarkable progress, has significantly contributed to nation building. Speaking at the celebration of the state foundation day of Telangana Sunday at Raj Bhavan, Kohima, Ganesan said, “Today, as we honour Telangana, we not only recognize its unique identity but also embrace the unity that binds us all as Indians, despite our diverse backgrounds.”
He said Telangana’s journey, from its formation to its notable achievements, tells a story of strength, determination, and cultural richness. Appreciating the Telugu cultural songs and folk dances performed during the programme, the Governor said the performances highlight the state’s rich heritage and vibrant spirit, an indication that people of the diverse traditions, languages, and customs coexist in India.
Ganesan thanked the people of Telangana living in Nagaland, for enriching the country’s culture and demonstrating unity and diversity. He hoped that the connection between Telangana and Nagaland would keep growing stronger, showing the true spirit of “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat”.
He pointed out that the foundation day was celebrated for the second year at Raj Bhavan, reflecting the dedication to the “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” initiative, which beautifully embodies unity in diversity within the nation.
Stating that “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” celebrates India’s unity in diversity, Ganesan said through these celebrations, states learn from each other’s cultures, fostering brotherhood and understanding.
“The celebration is not just about Telangana’s foundation; it is also a reaffirmation of our collective commitment to promoting national unity. Events like this build understanding, create friendships, and pave the way for a harmonious co-existence,” the Governor added.
The celebration was marked with the presence of the people of Telangana from Kohima and Dimapur. Highlights of the programme were Telugu cultural songs and folk dances by Mohan Rao, Hemalatha and group, and Bhoomika and group.
During the programme, commissioner and secretary to the Governor, Rajesh Soundararajan, delivered the welcome address, president of Nagaland Telugu Samaj, Shankar Surada gave a speech about Telangana state, and joint secretary to the Governor, Mhomo Tungoe delivered the vote of thanks.
