DIMAPUR: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishor Yadav visited Tseminyu district on September 30, 2026, and held a meeting with district officers and civil organisations at the DC’s Conference Hall, Tseminyu.
Addressing the meeting, the Governor emphasised that while Tseminyu is a young district administratively, it is not a young society, being the homeland of the Rengma Nagas with rich history, distinctive cultural traditions, and strong community institutions. He urged district officers and civil societies to regularly visit the field, interact directly with the people, and understand their difficulties, a DIPR report stated.
The Governor encouraged officers to monitor the implementation of flagship schemes, infrastructure projects, and welfare programmes through regular field inspections, utilising technology and digital systems wherever possible. Highlighting agriculture and allied activities as vital sources of livelihood, he noted Tseminyu’s considerable potential in agriculture, horticulture, livestock, poultry, and allied sectors.
He further urged the administration to identify locally suitable products, develop producers’ groups and self help groups, facilitate processing and packaging, and connect them with markets within and outside Nagaland.
Stressing that education was the foundation of long term development, he also underscored the importance of healthcare, stating that primary health institutions must function effectively and essential services should reach people, particularly in rural areas.
The Governor highlighted the need for electricity, drinking water, roads, and digital connectivity as essential for development, while stressing the promotion of tourism through cultural experiences and community initiatives.
Giving an overview of the district, DC Tseminyu Japheth Woch informed that Tseminyu became a district on February 24, 2022, and continues to face challenges due to shortage of officers, hospitals, and colleges. He added that Tseminyu has been declared a Piggery District during a DPDB meeting and requires urgent road and infrastructure development with improved digital connectivity.
In his remarks, Rengma Hoho president Gwasinlo Thong appealed for job reservation for the Rengma community and highlighted challenges faced by students due to the absence of a college in the district.
The programme was chaired by EAC Tseminyu Molosangla Ozukum, with the welcome address delivered by MLA and chairman DPDB Ar. Jwenga Seb. It concluded with departmental presentations by KVK, Land Resources, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Mission Vatsala, and Mission Shakti.
