DIMAPUR: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav visited the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagaland at Chumoukedima on Thursday, where he reviewed the institute’s academic, research and infrastructure progress.
According to a DIPR report, the visit included an interactive session with faculty and students, a presentation on institutional achievements and a tour of key campus facilities.
In his address, Governor Yadav lauded NIT Nagaland’s role in nurturing skilled professionals and future leaders for the State and the country. He emphasized that alongside academic excellence, qualities such as innovation, adaptability, integrity and commitment to public service were essential in today’s rapidly evolving world.
Encouraging students to remain curious and embrace innovation, he urged them to make meaningful contributions to society through research, technology, entrepreneurship and public service. He expressed confidence that the institute would continue to produce graduates capable of addressing real-world challenges.
The Governor also appreciated the dedication of faculty members, noting that their commitment to academic excellence, research and character-building would shape competent and responsible citizens. He further expressed confidence in the potential of Nagaland’s youth, stating that institutions like NIT Nagaland would contribute significantly to the advancement of science, technology and sustainable development.
Welcoming the Governor, director in-charge Dr. R. Kumar highlighted NIT Nagaland’s commitment to promoting higher education, youth empowerment and regional development. He said the campus, set in a green and pollution-free environment, provided a conducive atmosphere for academic and personal growth while encouraging innovation. Dr. Kumar also noted that the institute was steadily strengthening its infrastructure and academic resources with the goal of emerging as a centre of excellence in technical education. He emphasized efforts to make education more accessible and inclusive for students across the region.
Earlier, the Governor was briefed by the director on the institute’s progress and achievements through a detailed presentation covering academic and research accomplishments, infrastructure development and the institute’s future roadmap. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Registrar Dr. Manoj Prabhakar.
