Govt constitutes PAC on Naga political issue

Nagaland government has constituted a 26-member ‘Political Affairs Committee’ to review and discuss all major issues relating to Naga political issue. In a notification dated June 5, 2024, Home commissioner Vikeyie Kenya said that PAC will be headed by chief minister Neiphiu Rio as convenor and minister KG Kenye as member secretary.


The other members of the committee include deputy CMs– TR Zeliang and Y Patton, ministers– G Kaito Aye, N Jacob Zhimomi, P Paiwaing Konyak, Metsubo Jamir, Temjen Imna Along, CL John, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, P Bashangmongba Chang, members of parliament– S Phangnon Konyak (Rajya Sabha), S Supongmeren Jamir (Lok Sabha) and advisers/MLAs– S Keoshu Yimchunger, Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, Puthai Longon, A Pongshi Phom, Ar. Jwenga Seb, Kuzholuzo Neinu, Er. Picto Shohe, Nuklutoshi, Dr. Sukhato A Sema, Lima Onen Chang, B. Bangtick Phom and Dr. Neisatuo Mero.


It may be recalled that a high-Level Political meeting held on May 9, chaired by chief minister Neiphiu Rio decided to constitute a “Political Affairs Committee” (PAC) comprising of the council of ministers and legislature leaders of all political parties in the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) to “find an inclusive solution to the long-drawn Indo-Naga political issue as a facilitator.”


In a circular, Parliamentary Affairs minister KG Kenye said that this was being initiated once again with a renewed vigour in furtherance to the spirit of the all-party opposition-less government in pursuit of a broad consensus for an early and amicable settlement.
