Naga Hoho (NH) has condemned the high handedness of the police force over the killing of two innocent youths– Bendangnungsang and Vizo Metha on January 31 night and pointed out that the state government should take full responsibility. The hoho’s media cell, in a press note conveyed deep condolences go to the bereaved families and prayed that the lives sacrificed would not be in vain. NH also hoped that better understanding and oneness among Nagas would grow out of this sad and tragic situation. Further, NH reaffirmed that it was unequivocally clear since 2012 for amendment of the Municipal Act 2001, in consultation with all stake holders, saying there were anomalies in the Act not suitable for the Naga society. This was made known to the government and the people several times through campaigns and press media, NH said. It said NH had also requested the government not to issue election notification till the consensus was agreed upon. With regard to the January 30 agreement signed between the state government, NCC and NBCC, NH said the u-turn and the unwise decision by the Cabinet was unfortunate. On the other hand, NH expressed appreciation to the NBCC for the sincere initiative to end the impasse.
