Govt spent `11.95 cr, earned `7.01 lakh from Hornbill: NPCC

State tourism department spent Rs. 11.95 crores on Hornbill Festival during 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 and earned only Rs. 7.01 lakhs as revenue resulting in loss of Rs. 11 Crores, 87 lakhs and 99 thousand to the public exchequer, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has said.
In a press release, NPCC public grievances department (PGD) stated that it had obtained information through RTI application pertaining to ‘Hornbill Festival” under department of tourism, government of Nagaland for the years 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014.
The public grievances cell said it was yet to receive the documents pertaining to the years 2013 and 2015 from the department. 
Further, it stated that the documents received from the tourism department contained no actual payee receipts (APRs) and no entry fee, which were also considered as government revenue, was shown for the years 2010, 2011 and 2012.
For the year 2014, PGD said the total number of tourist visitors both domestic and international was 1,72,013 and revenue collected from entry tickets as per treasury challan was Rs. 3,14,916, which means only Rs. 1.83 paise per head only was collected.
