In pursuance of the Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench order dated September 1, 2021, principal secretary P&AR department R. Ramakrishnan has informed that the department’s July 16 office memorandum (OM)– to allow partial lifting of ban on appointments against existing vacancies in 76– departments shall remain suspended till further orders.
It may be recalled that the P&AR OM had empowered 10 departments listed in category-A, to complete the recruitment process with respect to the total of 160 various posts and also relaxed and permitted the 66 departments listed in Category-B, for recruitment of a total number of 1357 various posts, while the list of category-B was to be intimated individually to each respective department.
However, Rising People’s Party (RPP) on August last filed a PIL at the Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court seeking revocation of the July 16, 2021 notification by P&AR department, empowering 76 departments to conduct “departmental examinations”
Accordingly, the court on September 1 suspended the notification and gave four weeks to the State government to file reply.
