State Medical Officer, State Mental Health Institute, Dr. Viketoulie Pienyii has suggested that government should enact law to stop abuse, exploitation, corruption, etc, and also advised youths to be vigilant and remain alert to develop a strong accountability system.
A press release by District Field Coordinator, NFI, Vekulu Demo stated that Dr. Viketoulie made this suggestion while speaking as resource person at the seminar on SDG Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institution on January 24, at the office of ARK Foundation, Kohima organised by National Foundation for India (NFI).
He also lamented about crimes committed against children and women, corruption, injustice, inequality, unemployment, climatic change etc. According to Dr. Viketoulie, all such social elements results in serious repercussions in the larger society.
He therefore, emphasized the need to transfer investment from upper section to less privileged section.
He noted that this could create balance in various classes prevailing within society.
He further challenged the youths to take up issues which would lead to sustainable life in future.
The objective of the seminar was to create awareness to youths on how to promote peace and generate an inclusive society for sustainable development.
Highlighting the background of the programme, District Field Coordinator, NFI, Vekulu Demo, delivered an overview of the project initiated by NFI towards SDG Goal 16 since July 2021.
She stated that the programme aimed to empower the youths on importance of peace, justice and strong institution, and how to resolve conflicts among various and numerous social groups.
