GPRN/NSCN condemned and expressed detestation and seriously viewed the Indian security forces high handedness against one of the GPRN/NSCN members.
GPRN/NSCN through its MIP claimed that on August 28 at around 11:30 p.m,, 5 Assam Rifles troops raided the residence of one ‘lieut.’ Ajong Chang and allegedly “resorted to physical abuse without finding faults of him”. MIP said that such arbitrary and unilateral action was detrimental to Ceasefire Ground Rules.
It, therefore, urged the security forces restraint themselves and adhere to the agreed Ceasefire Ground Rules signed between the Government of India and GPRN/NSCN as two separate entities.
Further, MIP said that notwithstanding the Ceases-fire Agreement ever since 2001, the ‘Agreed Position’ was also signed on the November 17, 2017 between Government of India and GPRN/NSCN, which has once again reaffirmed and committed to bring about enduring peace in Nagaland through political negotiation.
Such intermittent raids and unilateral actions by the security forces have once again raised the doubtfulness of the government of India’s credibility for peaceful settlement, MIP added.
Further, GPRN/NSCN with strong resentment urged the security forces to immediately cease all kinds of provocative actions.
