More than 80 Kuki region workers from both civil and military wings led by senior GPRN/NSCN leader C Singson Kuki met ato kilonser and WC, NNPGs convener N Kitovi Zhimomi and vice-president Chennyiem Konyak at the Oking.
In a statement, GPRN/NSCN said that the delegation acknowledged the leadership under president ‘maj’ (retd) RM Lotha and Kitovi, and reiterated that the Kukis of Nagaland, as stakeholders, would heartily welcome honourable and acceptable political solution between the central government and Nagas. They assured that the indigenous Kukis would remain an integral part of the Naga political and social system, besides continue to protect and defend Nagaland.
During the meeting, the Kukis of Nagaland were reminded of their inseparable link with the Naga political movement, which was rooted in the soil of Nagaland.
According to GPRN/NSCN, the contribution of the Kukis to the Naga political movement from 1929 to date was remarkable, for the fact that they had stood shoulder to shoulder with the Naga pioneers in the political movement, much earlier than the Naga brothers from Manipur and this fact of history could not be erased.
As to question the Kuki Naga national workers would be questioning the very Naga history itself, MIP said the Kuki national workers were encouraged to continue the legacy of the pioneers. They were also asked to ignore the false scripts of those late entrants of the Naga movement who were trying to rewrite and diminish Naga history, identity and culture with dubious impractical narrative.
GPRN/NSCN said legendary Lengjan Kuki, the only Kuki signatory to the January 10, 1929 memorandum to the British Statutory Commission, remained a beacon of light for indigenous Kukis of Nagaland.
