Government Primary School (GPS) Changpang Village, Wokha celebrated its 75th anniversary on December 27, at the school campus, attended by alumni members, past teachers, village authorities and well-wishers, with SDEO Bhandari, Y James Humtsoe, as the guest of honour.
In a press release chairman, School Management Committee, Dr. M Libanthung Ngullie, informed that James Humtsoe in his speech congratulated the school management and Changpang villagers on achieving the milestone.
He called for introspection and rectifying the mistakes, if any, and forge ahead, for a brighter future. He also encouraged the gathering to not blame each other but work in unison to bring more students into the school in order to avoid closure or merger action from the authorities.
Addressing the problem of lack of teachers in the school, the SDEO assured the gathering not to worry as the department was all set to introduce Teachers Attendance Monitoring System (TAMS) in all schools in the state starting from next year.
He therefore sought cooperation from all parents, teachers, SMC and general public as important stakeholders of education.
The release further informed that jubilee greetings were delivered by Retd. Addl. Director, Horticulture, Jerry Patton, Retd. Addl. Secretary, Thomas Kikon, and Retd Deputy Commissioner, Taxes, WY Kithan, while Rev. K Nchibemo Shitiri, dedicated the jubilee monolith, and also offered prayer of blessings for the people of Changpang.
