‘Greening Asetkong’ project completes one year

Greening Asetkong, a five-year project towards a greener society and also about preserving the biodiversity launched by NLA Speaker, Dr. Imtiwapang, with support from Asetkong Kaketshir Telongjem Mungdang (AKTM) completed its one year with planting of exotic trees at Asetkong range on July 26.
A press note by AKTM president, Alapong T. Jamir and general secretary, Jongshiyapang Aier stated as a mark of its one year anniversary, AKTM under the theme, “a tree for peace” planted 500 saplings of pine and silver oak covering a stretch of more than 30 km along the AT-Road. 
During a brief programme at Kobulong, AKTM president Alapong Jamir urged the students not only to plant trees and mark the occasion but to nurture it with care as their personal responsibility.  The aim of the project is to beautify the landscape of this small range into a “pollution free zone” and “natural carbon free zone. The project was launched in July 26, 2016 and planted 2000 sapling in the first phase.
