Traders’ body objects to raids by NPGs
GS Road Business Owners’ Association (GSRBOA) has appealed to various Naga political groups to desist from random checking/raids of godowns and shops on the pretext of searching expired goods or MRP. GSRBOA president, Omega Yepthomi cautioned that they would take a call for indefinite bandh if such act was not stopped immediately.
The association said it had clarified on earlier occasions that there were certain norms and procedures with regard to expired or damaged goods and items. It maintained that the traders and shopkeepers have to store expired or damaged goods in godowns in order to get refund for such goods from companies.
After due process, the said goods are either returned to the respective company or destroyed later. However, the association lamented that despite various requests/appeals, the NPGs have not stopped the act, adding that the traders were harassed. Meanwhile, GSRBOA assured to take punitive action against any trader/shopkeeper selling expired or damaged goods.
