Gross food safety lapses found in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, SEP 26 (NPN)

Dimapur Food Safety Administration (DFSA) Friday informed that during recent inspection of hotels and restaurants along Golaghat Road area, serious violations were uncovered.
In a press release, food safety administration, Dimapur zone, designated officer Pelerieno Kehie informed that five establishments– M/s Manipuri Rice Hotel, Sultana Manipuri Rice Hotel, Sher-E-Punjab, Hotel Kingfisher, and Golden Manipuri Muslim Rice Hotel– were found to be operating without a valid FSSAI registration certificate. The designated officer also informed that their kitchens were found in a highly unsanitary condition.
According to DFSA, improvement notices were served on them under Section 32 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Further, it stated that they were mandated to obtain Medical Fitness Certificates for their food handlers and to provide water analysis reports for the water used in food preparation. DFSA also set a compliance deadline of 14 days, adding that failure to meet those requirements would result in legal action.
Substandard products: DFSA has also informed consumers that several food products have been found substandard following laboratory analysis. The products identified include Classic dark soya sauce (Batch No. A01) Mfg. date 20/06/25 BB date 19/06/26; Woovy Choco Shots Flavoured Beans (Sugar Confectionery) Mfg. date Oct 24 Best before 9 months; Amulspray Infant Milk Food/ Infant Milk Substitute (Batch No. SB00951) Mfg date 05/04/25 Best before 05/04/26 and Sunfunda Watermelon Fruit Drink (Batch No. 02) Mfg date 18/04/25 Best before 17/10/25. Consumers have been advised to avoid purchasing those products with the above-mentioned batch numbers.
