GSKS celebrates ‘30th Bhasha Diwas’GSKS celebrates ‘30th Bhasha Diwas’

Marking the recognition day of Nepali language, Gorkha Sahitya Kala Sanstha (GSKS) Kohima under the aegis of Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK)celebrated “30th Bhasha Diwas” on August 20 at GPPK Hall, Chandmari Kohima.

In a press release, GSKS stated that during the programme, GPPK president Santu Thapare called the sacrifices of those visionary Gorkhas who tirelessly pursued for recognition of Nepali language, especially the then member of parliament from Sikkim, Dil Kumari Bhandari.

While thanking the government of India for including Nepali language in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution, Thapa said it was time for Gorkha students to take Nepali education in different level and avail benefits of constitutionally recognised language.

Expressing concern on difficulties faced during COVID-19 pandemic, Thapa called upon all concerned Nepali/Gorkhali people to continuously maintain COVID appropriate behaviours and follow SOPs at all times.   

The programme was chaired by GSKS cultural secretary Bharat Barailly, welcome speech was delivered by GSKS president Chandra Kumar Lama and significance of Bhasa was shared by GSKS assistant cultural secretary, Vinod Mothey.
