Office of the Commissioner of State Taxes Nagaland, in collaboration with the Commissioner of Central GST Dimapur, observed GST Day 2025 on July 1 at the Taxes Conference Hall, Lengrijan, Dimapur, under the theme “GST: Simplifying Taxes; Empowering Citizens.”
According to DIPR report, the event marked eight years since the rollout of GST in India on July 1, 2017. Officials said the day served as a reminder of India’s shift to a unified indirect tax system aimed at simplification, digital transparency, and citizen-friendly tax practices.
Additional Commissioner of CGST, Sashi Wapang Lanu, in his address, called GST a “game-changer” for Nagaland, noting that Northeastern states recorded a 27% annual growth in GST revenue between 2017 and 2023.

Lanu also shared plans for a training programme to certify local GST “Mitras” to support outreach and employment, and highlighted how GST has brought Nagaland closer to the national economy through digitalisation.
