The first meeting of the GST Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) for Nagaland in the 2025–26 financial year was held on June 12 under the chairmanship of Chief Commissioner CGST & Customs, Guwahati Zone, SK Sinha.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Commissioner CGST Dimapur SK Mahanta, Commissioner State Taxes Nagaland Abhinav Shivam, and representatives from trade and industry bodies such as the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CNCCI), Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI), and Young Indians (Yi) Nagaland Chapter.
Welcoming the participants, Additional Commissioner CGST, Sashi Wapang Lanu, highlighted that the quarterly GRC meetings aim to address taxpayer grievances and operational challenges under GST and ensure transparency in the redressal process.
During the discussion, CNCCI president Dr. Khekugha Muru and BAN president Mongkhum Jamir raised key issues affecting local businesses. In response, the Chief Commissioner advised Central and State GST offices to organise more awareness programmes.
He also introduced the GST Mitra initiative—a training and certification programme to support aspiring GST practitioners.
Other topics discussed included enhancing tax exemption limits, extending deadlines for amnesty schemes, and concerns about multiple taxation.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Deputy Commissioner CGST, Otto Yeputhomi, who encouraged stakeholders to continue using the GRC platform to raise and resolve GST-related issues.
