A one-day training programme on Goods and Services Tax (GST) was conducted at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha, on September 3 for Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), registered dealers, and other key stakeholders. The programme was organised by the Department of Taxes, Government of Nagaland, with the objective of enhancing awareness and compliance with GST provisions.
Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar, graced the occasion as special guest. In his address, he underscored the significance of taxation as the foundation of governance, stating that adequate revenue was essential for ensuring stability, development, and justice. He further noted that both direct and indirect taxes play a vital role in supporting infrastructure, welfare schemes, and law enforcement, thereby benefiting all sections of society.
Technical sessions were led by Assistant Commissioner of State Taxes, Wokha, Yanrenthung Yanthan, along with officials from the State Tax Department. Topics covered included GST registration, return filing, TDS, input tax credit, refund procedures, and penalties for non-compliance. Live demonstrations were also conducted to address practical challenges faced during implementation.
The sessions witnessed active participation from government departments, local businesses, and trade bodies, with attendees engaged in discussions and sought clarifications. The training aimed to build stakeholder capacity and promote a transparent and efficient tax ecosystem in Wokha district.
