GUM organises programme in support of Gorkhaland

In support of the global demand for Gorkhaland unity march, the Gorkha Union Mokokchung (GUM) also organised a programme on July 30, wherein about 500 people attended. 
A joint press note by GUM vice president, B. R. Subba and general secretary, Prahlad Gurung stated that several leaders spoke at the program including M.R. Rai (former president GUM) who appraised the crowds about the history of Gorkhaland while Prakash Aley (former president GUM) explained the gathering about Gorkhaland and its necessity.

Subba told the members to be cautious, sincere and to be positive and B.B Gurung (senior member & former president of Nagaland Gorkha Association) told the crowd to wait for the time and to just work hard for the demand and asked everyone to be steadfast in their prayers so that the dream of Gorkhaland be fulfilled. 
Gorkhaland unity march president, Prashant Thapacalled upon the youths to voice out strongly for the demand.
President Manbir Aley & general secretary Prahlad Gurung of Gorkha Union Mokokchung also strongly condemned the killing of innocent youths by the police & CRPF, atrocities made to the people of the hills, step motherly treatment using large contingent of forces by West Bengal government, banning of internet service, banning of news channels and restriction of essential commodities are totally violation of human rights. 
These restrictions and step motherly attitude towards the people of Darjeeling Hills by the West Bengal government would never bring peace, he added. 
One minute silent prayer was observed for martyrs who were shot in the agitation.
