The Hakchang Village on account of its golden jubilee celebration and 2nd Triennial Session of Hakchang Students’ Union, has declared the village as “Drug Free Zone”.
The declaration was made at the workshop on “Holistic and critical approach towards Drug abuse and illicit trafficking” organized by Hakchang Students’ Union (HSU) in collaboration with Tuensang District Legal Service Authority on December 29 at Hakchang Baptist Church.
According to planning committee, Hakchang Village, Nato Y Chang, representatives from A B Sadang – Village Council chairman, C Yonga – Citizen’s Union president, O Nato – Students Union president, Rev. B Sangbou – pastor Hakchang Baptist Church and L Nyemteng – Women’s Organisation president took the pledge at the workshop with joint signatories for extensive remedial measures.
At the workshop, resource persons were advocate Anti Mangyang, Yongkong Toshi UBSI – DEF Tuensang and Alemba H, executive – Nagaland Users Network. The topics covered were “Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act 1985” which was addressed by advocate Anti Mangyang while Yongkong Toshi UBSI shared on “Drug abuse & Illicit trafficking” and Alemba H from Nagaland User Network on “Consequences & Recovery” from his personal experiences.
