A one-day “hands on training on pig health management” was held at School of Agricultural Sciences, NU, Medziphema on Monday.
At the event, Dr. Catherine Rutsa, in-charge, ICAR-AICRP on Pig, NU, SAS, spoke on the topic of “pig deworming and vaccination” and highlighted the importance of vaccinating animals for viral diseases like African Swine fever that could be done before animals fell sick.
During technical session I, Ph.D. scholar Tsarila Z T. Sangtam from the department of LPM at NU, SAS, presented on tick and lice control in pigs.
In Technical Session II, JRF from ICAR-AICRP on Pig at NU, SAS, Rajan Singh discussed pig farm biosecurity which involved preventing the introduction and spread of harmful organisms.
Emphasis was placed on proper drainage to prevent stagnant water, flies, and mosquitoes.
