As part of the ongoing Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhata campaign, BJP and PHED conducted outreach programmes on August 11, focusing on patriotism, inclusion, health, and sanitation.
DIMAPUR: In Dimapur, BJP Nagaland, led by State president Benjamin Yepthomi, visited the School for the Deaf, Naharbari, Dimapur, in a special outreach initiative.
The team interacted with students and staff, extending support and solidarity in celebration of Independence Day. Established in 1987, the School for the Deaf is the first and only institution in Nagaland dedicated to the education, vocational training, and rehabilitation of the hearing impaired. Founded by Rev. Yanger Walling, a three-time National Awardee (1999, 2004 & 2009), the institution has served as a beacon of empowerment for nearly four decades.
Rev. Walling expressed heartfelt gratitude to the BJP leadership for organizing the programme, which featured prayers, performances, and messages of inclusion. In his address, Yepthomi described the occasion as a “blessing” and emphasized unity within the party. He lauded the students as “living testimonies” of faith and resilience, while commending the dedication of parents, teachers, and volunteers. He urged continued community support to ensure love and inclusion for every child.
The programme featured an invocation by Rev. Langer Walling, a special presentation by students, and concluded with a benediction, the National Anthem, and a photo session.
A felicitation and induction of the new BJP office bearers was also held at the residence of BJP president, Benjamin Yepthomi.
The programme was chaired by BJP State vice president and Har Ghar Tiranga convenor, Khevishe Achumi, with an invocation led by Rev. Walling. Students presented Bible verses and a gospel song in sign language, followed by a benediction from Besutsu Dozo.
In addition to the school visit, BJP Nagaland conducted free medical camps in all 11 District Jails across the state to ensure healthcare access for inmates. A special celebration was also held at the residence of Shri Yepthomi. The event was graced by deputy chief minister, Y. Patton, BJP ministers and advisors, chairmen of State PSUs, former Ministers, DMC and CTC Councillors, and party members from across Nagaland.
MON: Meanwhile, in Mon district, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Mon Division, in collaboration with the Leangha Watsan Committee, organized a cleanliness drive at Konyak Heritage Village. The initiative aimed to raise awareness on hygiene and environmental conservation, with active participation from local volunteers and PHED staff. Morungs were cleaned and litter disposed of, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility.
WOKHA: In Wokha, PHED Wokha Division conducted a community clean-up drive at Ganga Post Main Reservoir Compound. The event began with the hoisting of the National Flag and installation of signage promoting cleanliness and water conservation. District Chemist Er. Aremo Y. Ovung conducted water quality testing, while District Coordinator S. Aochuba Longchar spoke on plastic segregation and waste management practices. The campaign continues until August 15.
KOHIMA: In Kohima, BJP Kohima District organized a free medical camp at the District Jail, providing healthcare services to 21 inmates and 3 staff members. The camp was led by ST Morcha State president, Thomas Magh, and supported by medical teams from MMU, RBSK, and NHAK. BJP expressed gratitude to the prison authorities for facilitating the initiative.

The initiative aimed to clear debris and obstructions from village drainage systems to prevent flooding and improve water flow. In addition to the clean-up, the campaign focused on identifying and repairing water pipe leakages within village premises, ensuring proper drainage infrastructure and promoting responsible water usage.
