DIMAPUR, SEP 12 (NPN): Hari FC emerged champions of the 4th Open Penalty Shootout 2026 organised by Borlengri Ao Baptist Arogo Youth Ministry (BABAYM) Sports Committee at Borlengri on Saturday.
Altogether, 34 teams participated in the tournament with the winner walking away with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000, while runners-up and second runners-up bagged Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 5000, respectively, and best keeper Rs. 2000.
Addressing the gathering as special guest in the inaugural session, former NSF president and former NPF Central Youth Wing president, Imchatoba Imchen, stressed the importance of unity and fellowship among youths.
Quoting Psalm 133:1, he said the tournament should not be viewed merely as a sporting event but as an opportunity for youths to come together, dwell in unity and get to know one another.
Imchen also emphasised the importance of discipline and mutual respect, stating that youths are among the greatest assets of society. Referring to the significant youth population in the state, he said around 42% of the state’s population comprises youths, and asserted that if they were guided on the right path, they could bring positive change and contribute to the state’s progress.
He thereby challenged the participants to become agents of change, stressing that meaningful transformation in society would come through the younger generation. Imchen also urged youths to maintain true essence of Christianity wherever they go and in whatever they do.
He also spoke on the growing influence of social media, cautioning that it could have both positive and negative impacts on individuals and society depending on how it was used.
Earlier, Associate Pastor, CEM, BABA, Atola Imchen, offered invocation, while Associate Pastor, BABAYM, Sentiyala Jamir, delivered the welcome address and Tolamenla Aier presented a special number.
