DIMAPUR, JUL 28 (NPN): The long neglected dumping ground at Hazi Park, Dimapur has been transformed into a dedicated parking space through the initiative of BJP councillor for Ward 6, V. Khekato Awomi, who has also undertaken repair works on internal roads at Elora Lane.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, Awomi said the site at Hazi Park, which for years had been used as a dumping ground and for open urination, has now been reclaimed and converted into a parking facility for both two wheelers and four wheelers. He informed that the project took around four days to complete. While construction has been finished, the final stage of water curing of the newly plastered surface is currently underway. Painting and marking of the parking bays will be carried out later this week.
According to Awomi, the renovated facility includes four designated parking areas, with space for both two wheelers and four wheelers, aimed at improving traffic management and public convenience in the locality.
In addition to the parking project, the councillor also undertook repair works on the internal road at Elora Lane to improve connectivity and ease of movement for residents.
Awomi said more developmental works are planned across the ward but noted that progress is constrained by limited government funding. Despite financial challenges, he assured that the ward remains committed to carrying out essential civic works with the resources available.
The initiatives have significantly enhanced the appearance and utility of Hazi Park by converting a neglected public space into a functional parking area, while also improving internal road infrastructure within the ward.
