HC asks contractor to continue work & maintain timeline

Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench has directed contractor M/s Fortune Groups to continue with the work (NH-2 Kohima to Mao gate) on full swing and maintain the timeline given in its December 2, 2022 order. A two-judge bench of Justice LS Jamir and Justice Songkhupchung Serto also accepted the submission of M/s Fortune Groups managing director Tapas Kumar Pathy. Regarding the 2 km from Lerie point toward South, additional advocate general Imti Imsong submitted that the work had been completed, but the contractor was responsible for maintaining the same for the coming one year as per the contract.
The court also ordered listing the matter again on January 18, 2023 and directed that the parties should file affidavits showing the progress of work on or before the next date of hearing. Tapas Kumar Pathy had submitted that out of 5 km promised to be completed, work on 3 km had been completed and assured that the remaining 2 km along with 2.5 km, for which the timeline was given for completion within the month of December, would be completed together by December-end 2022. He also submitted that as required, the number of dipper trucks would be increased and the remaining work would be completed as per the timeline given in the high court order of December 2, 2022. He further submitted that the work could not progress as desired due to heavy traffic during Hornbill Festival.
