
Gauhati High Court Kohima bench has directed the State government to compile a list of people who were eligible for vaccination, but have not been vaccinated.
The bench, comprising of Justices Songkhupchung Serto and Hukato Swu, directed the principal secretary, home to compile the list in accordance with the head count conducted by respective District Task Forces (DTFs) before the next hearing.
The court observed that the vaccination process can be taken up even on a more practical and faster manner, if the information was made available.
The latest court order was in continuation to the suo moto PIL hearing, which began in the early part of May regarding the second wave of the Covid-19 situation in the State.
State government counsellor N. Mozhui was directed to inform the court on when the installation of oxygen plants at all CHCs and district hospitals will be completed.
Further, the counsellor was also asked to ensure that districts, which were yet to submit their reports on manpower distribution, submit the same before the next hearing during which Longleng and Wokha were to submit their reports.
Earlier, the counsel appearing for the health department submitted that about 70% of the persons eligible for vaccination i.e. from aged 18 years and above have been vaccinated and efforts were on to meet the target set by the court.
Mozhui also informed the court that oxygen plants, which were already installed in the district hospitals but smaller in capacity, were being shifted to CHCs and bigger plants were being installed at the district hospitals.
He further informed the court that only Zunheboto and Tuensang were yet to submit their reports of manpower distribution. The next date of hearing has fixed for September 8, 2021.
