HC grants pre-arrest bail to 12 more NC members

Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench on Tuesday granted pre-arrest bail to 12 more members of the Naga Club in connection with the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) office vandalisation case.
In an interim order after hearing batch of anticipatory bail applications, a single-bench judge of Justice Kakheto Sema granted pre-arrest bail subject to certain conditions.
He ruled that the applicants would have to appear before the OC, North Police Station, Kohima or the investigating officer of the case within a period of five days, they would be released on executing a bail bond of Rs 20,000 with one surety of the like amount in the event of their arrest by the police, they should appear before the OC, North Police Station, Kohima or Investigating Officer as and when summoned, should not indulge in similar or same offence with which they had been charged and should cooperate with the police in the investigation of the case.
The judge warned that violation of any of the conditions would lead to automatic cancellation of the interim bail. He listed the case on June 15, 2023.
It may be recalled that the High Court on Monday granted absolute pre-arrest bail to six persons (Naga Club functionaries) with certain conditions.
