Health check-ups, awareness sittings, free medication etc. were given in ‘Health Melas’ at Phellang & Lephori villages.
Phellang Village: The One Day Health ‘Mela’ was held at Government Middle School, Phellang Village, Athibung block also covering other nearby villages on March 28.
In a press release, district media officer of Peren, stated that altogether, 278 patients availed of the free medical services.
Under the family planning services, condoms and OCP’s were distributed, total of 30 dental extractions were done, children were immunized, ANC for pregnant women and counseling were given & blood tests done for HIV and malaria. Sputum was collected on the spot for suspected TB cases.
IEC materials- leaflets in local dialect, booklets were distributed for awareness and publicity. IPC sessions were conducted and counseling was given regarding health talks on family planning and child health immunization, maternal health and HIV/AIDS.
Nutritional packages were also given to all the pregnant women and lactating mothers. Free medication was also given to all patients who came to avail of the services.
Altogether 41 patients were screened for vision tests out of which 8 children were identified to have refractive errors and were provided free spectacles.
The team was headed by CMO, Dr. Denis Hangsing, Obs & Gynae (DPO UIP/RCH), Dr Yetovi, DPO NVBDCP, Dr. Limatula, medical specialist, Dr. Thangmang, Paediatrition, Dr. Lungkeuding, MO Dungki PHC, Dr. Martha, Epidemilogist, Dr. Imnuksungba, Dental Surgeon, Dr. Gloria, nurses, ophthalmic assistant, paramedics, counselor and lab technicians, IEC personnel, surveillance worker malaria, STLS RNTCP, NHM Staff, ASHA’s took part in the health mela.
Lephori Village: The One Day Health ‘Mela’ was conducted at Lephori village under Meluri block on March 29 organized by District Health Society Phek.
A press release said the health mela provided free Multispecialty health care services raising health awareness on different health issues.
Different health awareness sessions such as Interpersonal Communication-One on One and group discussions with pregnant women, lactating mothers, menfolk etc was carried out by district program manager, Sede, district community mobilize, Azenuo and Dr.Vibino. These involved topics on the importance of Ante-Natal check up (ANC), immunization and family planning.
During the program nutritional packages were also distributed.
For awareness on different health issues leaflets and posters printed in local dialects and English was given to the participants.
Films on maternal health, child health, malaria and vector borne diseases etc. was also shown. Altogether 270 patients availed the free services.
The health mela was attended by District Immunization officer Phek, Dr.Kolhitso Khalo, Medical Officer Meluri CHC, Dr.John, MO Weziho, Dr.Rukuwe, Dr.Lhishelo Tsuhah, Dr.Vibino, Dr.Limatoshi IDSP, Sede DPM, Martenzuk DAM, Chibenthung BAM, Wilfred Kithan BPM, Azenuo DCM, pharmacist and district media officer Phek.
