District Health Society (DHS) Longleng conducted its annual health mela at Tangha village sub-centre Yongnyah block, also covering other nearby villages, on April 21.
A press release from district media officer, CMO Longleng, Roseline stated that the health mela provided free health care services and put in efforts towards raising health awareness on different health issues. Under the family planning services, condoms and OCPs were distributed, 39 blood slides were tested for malaria and HIV, children were immunised, 4 women availed of Copper T services, ANC and counselling for pregnant women were given.
Nutritional packages were given to pregnant women and fully immunised children were also acknowledged. Altogether 248 patients availed of the free services.
District Adolescent Club (DAC) also presented a street play on immunization and ANC. District community mobilize, Henmei and district media officer, Roseline conducted focus group discussions on ANC, family planning, breastfeeding, newborn care, and maternal health. IPC sessions were conducted for lactating mothers and pregnant women. IEC materials, leaflets in local dialect as well as in English, booklets were distributed for awareness and publicity.
The team was headed by CMO Dr. Kongyan Phom, Dr. Molong Jamir epidiomologist IDSP, Dr. Manen Phom MO Yongnyah PHC, Dr. Lanuchuba DTO RNTCP and Dr. James Phom MO Yachem PHC. Nurses from Tangha sub-centre and district hospital, lab technicians, CMO staff, DPMU and NHM staff also took part in the health mela.
