A one-day Health Mela was organized at Yimpang village under Bhandari block by District Health Society (DHS), NHM Health & Family Welfare, Wokha on April 17.
A press release from NHM, CMO office Wokha Media Officer, Mhonbeni Ezung stated that the IEC team conducted FGD/IPC sessions on the importance of maternal child health, FP, immunization, JSY, JSSK, leprosy and iodine. Nutritional packs were given to pregnant and lactating mothers. Posters, handouts, leaflets on different health topics in the local dialect were also distributed among the villagers.
The medical team included Dr. Enrithung CMO, Dr. Tumchobeni deputy CMO, Dr. Benchilo DTO, Dr. Mhonchan ZLO, Dr. Meribeni senior dental surgeon DH, Dr. Renbonthung senior ENT specialist DH, Dr. Emmanuel(O&G) CHC Bhandari, Dr. Lawrence MO PHC Yimpang, Dr. Thechamo MO PHC Nyiro, Dr. Temjen MO DH, Dr. Aotula (dental) & Dr. Lipokrenla AYUSH from CHC Bhandari, along with ophthalmic assistant, lab- technician, from RNTCP, NVBDCP, DAPCU, pharmacist, nurses, and medical assistants.
A total of 193 patients availed of free medical checkups and free medication. 3 ANC check-ups, 15 ophthalmic cases (refractive errors), 25 Malaria blood tests, 10 sputum tests and the mobile ICTC team conducted 25 blood tests. DPM (NHM), DPO (DAPCU), BPMs DEO, MTS, PMW, ASHAs also assisted in the health mela activities.
The team also thanked CDPO Wokha, Soren Kikon, Yimpang Baptist Church and village council Yimpang for success of the health mela.
