Health minister assures to strengthen DH Phek

Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) minister P. Paiwang Konyak has assured to strengthen medical infrastructure at District Hospital (DH) Phek by providing essential healthcare services. The minister gave assurance during second phase of state-wide tour, which concluded in Phek district Thursday.
Accompanied secretary H&FW, officials from the health department, DC and SP Phek, the minister inspected district hospital Phek and reviewed the storage house in CMO’s office, infrastructure, the service of CMHIS and Ayushman Bharat and other essentials in Phek district hospital.
Konyak emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening Prime Minister’s vision of “Viksit Nagaland for a Viksit Bharat” by addressing infrastructural and service gaps.
Following the inspection, the minister held a meeting in the conference hall of district hospital Phek in the presence of DC, SP Phek, tribal Hohos and village councils.
At the meeting, the minister reiterated that his visit an exercise to review the strength of manpower, infrastructure developments, performance of doctors, availability of equipment, maintenance of OPD timing and OPD load and utilization of funds etc. As per the requirement of the DH Phek, Paiwang expressed his commitment to fill the gaps by developing the health centres across the state.
The minister authorised the medical superintendent of Phek and other district hospitals in consultation with the respective deputy commissioners to judiciously use the revenue generated from the hospital through CMHIS and Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme and engage specialists.
On shortage of manpower, Konyak reiterated that the issue will soon be settled with MOs coming in through NPSC and the current MBBS students, studying on Nagaland quota, will join the department as per the surety bond on completion of their studies.
Paiwang exuded confidence that DH Phek would excel in the days to come.
Meanwhile, the minister also paid a quick visit to Chozuba CHC on his way to Phek district. He expressed joy with the management and functioning of the CHC including the trauma centre being managed by a single MO. However, concerned over the rise of HIV rate and other related cases, the minister assured to post one MO at CHC Chozuba. The minister also directed the department to conduct a survey on the reason for the rise of HIV related cases. He also assured to provide laparoscopic machine, ultrasound machine, ambulance, additional Medical Officer at Chozuba Trauma Centre.
PHC Pfutsero to be upgraded: H&FW minister P. Paiwang Konyak affirmed commitment to upgrade the Community Health Centre (CHC) Pfutsero with essential manpower and infrastructure support. He made the assurance during his visit to CHC Pfutsero. The minister commended the health workers for their dedication in catering the large number of patients on a daily basis besides many challenges.
Further, the minister assured to fill the gaps by providing an additional medical officer, procurement of X-ray and an ultrasound machine, construction of security fencing, repair and renovation in addition to a new block.
The minister also visited the Integrated Ayush Hospital Razha, Chedema and interacted with the patients.
