Healthcare priority of govt: Jacob

Minister of PHED, Jacob Zhimomi said that state government priority was to provide heath infrastructure to all the people.
The minister said this while speaking as special guest at the inaugural programme of Sub Health Centre at Unity Village block-7, 5th mile Chümoukedima on Saturday.
Jacob said that under the leadership of chief minister Neiphui Rio, the government has initiated the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) in the state to cover all sections of people including government employees.
The minister also informed that CMHIS was in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ayushman Bharat scheme, where Rs.5 lakh medical coverage was provided to each family.
Jacob said that Ayushman Bharat scheme has also benefited many people in the state and highlighted on the process to avail the scheme.
On the development sector, Jacob said that the present government has accorded top priority in health sector and road.
He therefore called upon the citizens to extend cooperation and unity for more development.
Zhimomi said that the next mandate of the state government will be for the welfare of the people, which will be, transparent, accountable so that the state achieve process and prosperity at all level.
Short speeches were delivered by advisor to minister health and family welfare, O Yanger Phom who highlighted on how the sub-centre project was initiated and speech was also delivered by Unity Village Council chairman Hetoka Awomi.
Meanwhile, interacting with the media persons, chief medical officer of Chümoukedima, M. Tiala Longkumer said that to make the Sub-Health Centre functional they need at least two nurses and one medical attendant.
However, initially the department will engage contractual staff through National Health Mission as state government has banned new appointment, Longkumer said.
The CMO also said that it cannot give the exact time line when the newly inaugurated SHC will be functional as it depends on government.
Longkumer also informed that the construction was completed within six months with a cost of around Rs. 17.75 lakh which consist of six rooms with two attached toilets. Earlier, United Baptist Church, 3rd mile pastor Akavi V Yeputhomi dedicated the SHC.
