Healthcare workers trained in emergency cardiac care

DIMAPUR: The Department of Cardiology, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), conducted a two-day capacity-building workshop on November 4 and 5, 2026 to strengthen emergency cardiac care and improve coordination between peripheral healthcare centres and specialist cardiac teams across Nagaland.
The workshop focused on training doctors, nurses and ECG technicians in the use of CorConnect, a mobile application designed to connect peripheral health facilities directly with CIHSR cardiac care specialists. Participants from Police Referral Hospital, Chümoukedima; Community Health Centre, Medziphema; Primary Health Centre, Khonoma; Holy Redeemer Health Centre, Chümoukedima; and Community Health Centre, Jalukie, attended the training.
The sessions included practical, case-based ECG interpretation covering critical cardiac conditions such as acute heart attacks and heart blocks requiring pacemaker intervention.
Through CorConnect, frontline healthcare facilities can securely transmit patient histories, 12-lead ECGs and vital signs to CIHSR specialists for prompt assessment and guidance.
The system enables early intervention, patient stabilisation and coordinated referrals during the crucial “golden hour”.
According to CIHSR, the initiative aims to strengthen Nagaland’s emergency cardiac care network by enabling faster clinical decision-making, improving access to specialist expertise and enhancing patient outcomes.
