Help Nagaland Breathe (HNB), a Covid -19 relief campaign in the state came to an end on January 15 in Kohima.

Addressing a press conference, HNB officials said that their main goal was to support and help the people of Nagaland during the pandemic.

After a complete survey of the state’s health status and getting information from the district hospitals, front line workers, officials, and medical team, the team decided to volunteer and help fundraise through the “Milaap fundraiser” and various humanitarian agencies while keeping transparency and equitable distribution.

The campaign helped raise Rs. 25 lakhs in financial donations and Rs. 1.5 crores worth of medical supplies which was donated to the 12 districts across the state.

For the seven months of voluntary work, with 45 volunteers and more than 20 donors, including assistance from seven countries, the team supported more than 45 health centers, providing various medical kits and machines across the state.

Initially, the team started to garner relief support to the public in the state to fight the ongoing Covid -19 pandemic on May 20, 2021.

Kekhrie Mezhur said that the medical supplies were distributed through the help of district administrators, NGOs, health centers along with the help of the government. Kekhrie also stated that a lot of people from national and international generously stepped forward during the donation period. To ensure transparency to their donors and well-wishers, the team kept details of the consignments, their procurement, progress, and details online and updated. They also kept monitoring each unit and consignment after it was provided to the beneficiary.

They also carried out humanitarian aid, distributing food supplies and ration kits through NGOs to around 200 families as the state battled the second wave of the pandemic.
