NEW DELHI, AUG 30 (PTI): BJP MP from Vadodara Hemang Joshi will take charge as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) at a function at the saffron party’s headquarters here on Monday.
Joshi was appointed as the national president of the BJYM, the youth wing of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), earlier this month.
According to a statement issued by the BJYM, Joshi’s appointment marks his rise from student activism and grassroots-level organisational work to Parliament and now, to a key national organisational responsibility.
Joshi was elected to the Lok Sabha from Vadodara in 2024 at the age of 33, making him one of the youngest MPs from Gujarat, the statement said.
He was the president of the BJYM’s Gujarat unit, a responsibility he held prior to his elevation to the national post.
Joshi’s political journey began during his student days at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where he was associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
He subsequently held various organisational responsibilities and worked at the grassroots level before becoming the president of the BJYM Gujarat.
Joshi completed his bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy in 2015 and master’s degree in human resource management in 2016 from the Maharaja Sayajirao University.
He has also pursued doctoral research on leadership.
The charge-taking ceremony will be attended by BJP general secretary and BJYM national in-charge Sunil Bansal, outgoing president of the organisation and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, national office-bearers and national executive members of the BJYM, besides state presidents and general secretaries of the outfit from across the country.
Several former BJYM state presidents, general secretaries and office-bearers are also expected to attend the event.
The statement said the gathering would bring together the current and former leadership of the BJYM.
“His organisational experience in Gujarat and his experience as a young parliamentarian are expected to bring a fresh perspective to the functioning and outreach of BJYM at the national level,” it said.
