Heptullah to take oath as new Manipur Governor on Sunday

Najma Heptullah will take oath on Sunday (August 21) as the new Governor of Manipur. Former Union minister Najma Heptullah was appointed as Governor of Manipur by the President of India on August 17 last. She will be arriving at Imphal on Saturday, a day ahead of taking oath as 18th Governor of Manipur. Acting chief justice of Manipur High Court Justice, Rakesh Ranjan Prasad will administer the oath at 11.30 am on Sunday, official sources said Friday. The 76-year-old Heptulla had last month resigned as the minority affairs minister from the council of ministers of Narendra Modi government at the Centre. 
Currently, Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan is holding the additional charge as Manipur Governor.
