H&FW asks DCs to enforce OM

A day after serving ultimatum on the in-service government doctors engaged in private practice, the health & family welfare (H&FW) department has sought support of all the DCs, who are the chairperson of the district health mission and district health society, empowered to monitor and review matters relating to health sector, inter-sectoral coordination and advocate measures required to improve health services in the district.

H&FW department through an office memorandum (OM) dated July 31, 2023 directed in-service government doctors both availing as well as not availing non-practicing allowance (NPA) and engaged in private practice in their hospitals or in partnership to either close down their private hospitals or to de-associate from such partnership within one month from the date of issue of the office memorandum.


In a communiqué to the DCs, the commissioner & secretary H&FW, Y. Kikheto Sema requested the DCs to coordinate and ensure that instructions of OM were followed in letter and spirit.
