Taking serious note of the recent surge in dengue cases in Dimapur and Mon districts, Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) commissioner & secretary V Kezo has urged all stakeholder departments to brace up for the coming year and be much more proactive.
Addressing a review meeting of the State Task Force team on Vector Borne and Other Communicable Diseases convened by him at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima on Friday, Kezo also reiterated that Mon district needed to undergo a very intensive awareness campaign. In this regard, he requested all allied departments to come forward and share their ideas and inputs as to how and in what manner they could contribute to the overall initiative.
He appealed all the stakeholder departments to coordinate and work out plan to go through a state of preparedness. Convened to review the activities undertaken to prevent dengue and discuss measures to be adopted to tackle its rising cases in the state, the meeting was attended by senior officers from the H&FW and allied departments.
Former National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) state programme officer Dr Neisakho Kere gave a detailed presentation on dengue, status of cases district wise, activities conducted and ongoing, and potential roles of various departments and agencies in tackling the rise of dengue cases, prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
