Department of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Mokokchung and District Health Society (DHS) Zunheboto launched the “First 1000 days of life” campaign in Mokokchung and Zunheboto on May 30.
Deputy commissioner, Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh launched the campaign at Sangtemla Hall, Mokokchung as chief guest.
A press release by office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung informed that in his speech, the DC said “a healthy child makes a healthy society” and called upon the allied departments, civil societies and various stake holders to co-ordinate in creating awareness of the importance of the first 1000 days and different schemes up to the village level.
At the programme, Dr. longri UNICEF gave a presentation on the first 1000 days while Sr. Specialist (OBG) IMDH, Dr.Supongmeren spoke on the importance of antenatal care and hospital delivery. The gathering was briefed on Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) scheme and nutritional support during 1000 days by Aienla Longkumer from the department of social welfare.
Presentations on the importance of breastfeeding: the complete nutrition and early development, the importance of vaccination in children, SBCC through SHG institutions and convergence at village health sanitation and nutrition days were presented by paediatrician IMDH,
Dr. Imlisenba, AO DPO RCH & UIP, Dr. Takosunep, Moatoshi from NSRLM-RD and MO PHC Mongsenyimti, Dr. Maongkala.
The programme was chaired by DCM, Watisenla Jamir, invocation by MTBA associate Pastor, Yanglo Pongen and welcome address was by CMO Mokokchung, Dr. Kibangkumba.
The launching programme was attended by government official from the departments of health, social welfare and RD-NSRLM, civil society organisations, faith-based organisations and development partners.
ZUNHEBOTO: Deputy commissioner, Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali launched the campaign under National Health Mission at Sumi Kukaki Hoho ki, Zunheboto.
Speaking on the occasion, Mali expressed gratitude to District Health Society (DHS) Zunheboto for organizing the event, which would beneficial for the welfare of the society.
He said that the programme focused on critical interventions like Antenatal Care (ANC), hospital delivery, vaccination and early childhood care for both mother and child from pregnancy till the second birthday of a child.
DC further said added that for the successful implementation of this programme, all-round assistance from the medical and allied departments, faith based organizations, civil societies, and NGOs will be required.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Dy.CMO Zunheboto, Dr. K. Akaho Sema.
Dr. Heto Swu, DPO (UIP &RCH) Zunheboto delivered a brief introduction to the “First 1000 Days of Life”, the importance of antenatal care and hospital delivery, and the convergence of village health sanitation and nutrition day.
Dr. Kapfo Obs and Gy District Hospital Zunheboto spoke on the importance of antenatal care and hospital delivery and vaccination of children.
Dr. Ivikali MO DH spoke on breastfeeding and early childhood development.
Coordinator PMVVY, Social Welfare department, Nguvito gave a detailed presentation on the PMVVY schemes and nutritional support during the first 1000 days, and from NSRLM, Rural Development, Rebecca Achumi gave a detailed presentation on SBCC through SHG institutions.
Convergence at Village health sanitation and nutrition was presented by Viketol Kintso, DCM.
The programme chaired by DPM (NHM), Rosemary Vitoli began with an invocation by pastor ZTSBC, Rev. Inakhu Sumi.
