Guwahati, Sep 17 (PTI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday distributed around Rs 278 crore to more than 82,000 young entrepreneurs to support their ventures.
At an official function here, he ceremonially distributed the funds to 82,219 entrepreneurs under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) 1.0 and 2.0.
As part of the latest aid, the state government provides Rs 2 lakh for general and Rs 5 lakh for professional categories, alongside skill development and marketing support.
Under the CMAAA 1.0 and 2.0, Rs 1 lakh each was provided to youth entrepreneurs across the state.
“The success stories of our young entrepreneurs should be loud enough to drown out the negativity and show Assam the immense talent, courage and potential that lives in our youth,” Sarma said.
A young India that dreams, builds and creates opportunities for others is central to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the country, he said.
“Today, on his birthday, we empowered Assam’s young entrepreneurs with Rs 278 crore under CMAAA to support them in building an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Today, we reaffirmed our commitment to support their aspirations as we extended financial assistance to 82,219 youth under CMAAA 1.0 and 2.0,” the CM said.
The government would like to see their ideas grow into enterprises, their enterprises generate livelihoods and their success create opportunities for many, he said.
“Every face in the room and across all constituencies today reflected hope, ambition and a dream waiting to take shape. We’re committed to nurturing that spirit and giving our young people the opportunity to turn those dreams into reality,” Sarma said.
He urged the young entrepreneurs to make the best use of this support, while contributing to a self-reliant Assam.
Sarma also encouraged the youth to become job creators, not just job seekers.
In the state budget for 2026-27, the Assam government had said that it aimed to empower 10 lakh young entrepreneurs in the next five years under the CMAAA scheme, and proposed Rs 500 crore towards this scheme.
