DIMAPUR: A six-day Hindi New Writing Camp for non Hindi speaking participants was inaugurated on August 31, 2026, at the auditorium of the Department of Hindi, Nagaland University. The camp is jointly organised by the Central Hindi Directorate, Ministry of Education, Government of India, New Delhi, and the Department of Hindi, Nagaland University.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Vityolenou Lydia Dzüvichü and commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Munni Chaudhary, Head, Department of Hindi. Nathulal, Assistant Director, Central Hindi Directorate, presented the objectives of the camp and outlined the schedule.
During the inaugural session, Rohit Singh, director, Minority Affairs, Government of Nagaland, addressed the gathering as guest of honour, while Dutt Tiwari, secretary to the Governor and CEO, Meghalaya, graced the occasion as chief guest. The session was presided over by Prof. Santosh Kumar Singh, Dean, School of Sciences, Nagaland University.
In their addresses, the dignitaries emphasised the need to promote study, writing and creative expression of Hindi in non Hindi speaking regions. The camp is aimed at encouraging participants to engage in creative and innovative writing in Hindi. Following the inaugural session, subject experts Umesh Tripathi, Dr. Sunil Kumar Shaw, Dr. Goma Sharma, Dr. Tinku Chhetri, and Dr. Noor Jamal shared insights with the participants.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Brijesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Nagaland University, who is also the camp coordinator.
The initiative is regarded as a significant effort towards promoting Hindi, developing creative writing skills among non Hindi speaking students and writers, and strengthening dialogue among India’s diverse linguistic communities.
