HIV/AIDS awareness for NLA

An awareness programme on HIV/AIDS  for NLA Secretariat Officers and Staff was held in the conference hall, Assembly Secretariat, Kohima on 2nd July 2008.
The function was chaired by the Secretary, Nagaland Legislative Assembly who gave a brief report on the Legislators Forum and the concern of the legislators about awareness on HIV/AIDS.  He stressed on the need to educate the public how to live healthily, in mind and body. He urged parents to tell their children about the dreaded disease which is prevalent in every country, stating that it is everyone’s duty and responsibility to spread awareness on the disease.
Deputy Speaker NLA, also speaking on the occasion expressed his regret that our state has so many people infected by the disease. He opined that moral values of Christianity should help people stay away from HIV/AIDS.
Resource persons included Dr. Vinito L. Chishi, State Co-ordinator LFA (UNAIDS), Inatoli NGO Advisor NSACS and Abino Khate, Deputy Director, NSACS.
