UJJAIN (MP), JUN 27 (PTI): Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Saturday said Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav retaining 12 portfolios is a “big mistake” which could land him in trouble. He also said the chief minister could land in trouble one day if any official commits an error and pockets money.
“Chief Minister Yadav is the son of a mill worker, but he would not be spared if he committed any wrongdoing,” Singh added. Responding to queries regarding charges of land purchase by family members of CM Yadav, Singh said, “Mohan Yadav ji, you have kept as many as 12 departments with yourself. You are making a big mistake… You will get into trouble. An official will commit an error, pocket the money, but you will be the one to get trapped.”
Yadav currently holds the portfolios of General Administration, Home, Jail, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, Public Relations, Narmada Valley Development, Aviation, Mineral Resources, Public Service Management, and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Affairs, besides the departments not assigned to any other minister. Singh referred to his clean record as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, saying no allegation was raised against him during his ten-year stint.
Yadav’s predecessor Shivraj Singh Chouhan had scrutinised every single file but found nothing against Digvijay Singh, he said.
“Mohan Yadav ji, you too can investigate. It makes no difference to me. Because I did not hold any department [that could be implicated],” Singh added.
The Congress veteran said he is studying the alleged land scam to identify which companies are involved and who else is implicated.
He reminded Mohan Yadav of his roots as the son of a mill worker.
