Honest responsibility and stewardship is the new mantra for education: Temjen Imna Along

DIMAPUR: Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, Government of Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along, proclaimed that “taking honest responsibility and stewardship is the new mantra for a transformed educational system in Nagaland” while inaugurating the new academic building of Phek Government College under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) on Thursday.
In his keynote remarks, Temjen Imna Along described the inauguration as a momentous day for the college, acknowledging that every small step is a big step towards progress. He appreciated the institution’s development over the years and emphasized that surroundings resonate with identity. Urging students and faculty to be resourceful, he called on them to contribute meaningfully to the state and the nation.
Additional Secretary, Government of Nagaland and SPD, PM-USHA, Sentiyanger Pongen, highlighted the transformative role of PM-USHA in strengthening higher education infrastructure. He noted that improved facilities have enhanced the quality of learning, supported the implementation of NEP 2020, and empowered government colleges to compete effectively. Stressing that educational infrastructure is a valuable public asset, he called upon citizens and stakeholders to nurture and safeguard development projects, reporting discrepancies when necessary.
Dr. K. Zumomo Ovung delivered the welcome address, expressing hope that the new building would symbolize commitment and provide a better learning environment, inspiring students to excel in every field. He urged staff and students to work together to make the institution a hub of knowledge, creativity and excellence.
The inaugural programme, held within the college premises, began with a dedicatory prayer by pastor of Bible Hill Baptist Church, Phek Town, Vepreta Lasuh.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by vice principal of Phek Government College, Shepalu Suyie.
